Thomson Cruises - Reasons To Sail With Them

By Tom Roberts

Are you looking to sail away for some time to relax or perhaps have some holiday time with loved ones? Does the idea of sailing out to sea to travel the sparkling blue waters sound appealing to you? If so, you can't go too far wrong with Thomson Cruises.

Thomson Cruise lines have been going strong for well over 40 years, and officially founded in 1965. Most of those who go on a trip with Thompson have described their experience as anywhere from traditional to ultra-casual. With such a laid-back atmosphere, you can feel at home and relaxed as you enjoy the scenic views of the waters and enjoy the activities and entertainment on board.

If you are looking for places to dine, Thomson cruises offers open seating dining and a casual buffet restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Aside from one formal evening, dress is casual for most nights when dining at the restaurant.

The cruise line has five seperate ships. These include:

The Island Escape offers an alternative restaurant on board as well as a deck party almost every evening. The ship's captain and his officers perform a dance similar to The Full Monty, although everybody keeps their clothes on! On board, there are two bars and a steak house that you can visit for dinner. The Island Escape offers a fun, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for everybody.

The Thomson Celebration joined the fleet in 2004. On board, there is the Italian-style Zilli restaurant, named after the celebrity chef Aldo Zilli. None of the other ships offer this restaurant. This ship benefits from plenty of open space on deck, allowing you to take in the oceanic views or to sit and relax. If you are a first timer when it comes to cruises, this could be a great starter-cruise for you.

For those who want to wade in the waters, come aboard the Thomson Destiny, where there is plenty of open deck and 2 large pools. As the largest in fleet, there is plenty to keep you entertained. Relax at the Sky Bar for a 360 degree view and lounge in your cabin or suite that includes a balcony. For dining, you can eat at the Seven Seas Restaurant, Lido Cafe (open 24 hours), or the Pool Grill. There is also a couple of showrooms for entertainment and lounges such as the Oklahoma Lounge, the Sky Bar and Clipper Bar.

For a friendly crew and atmosphere, you can also decide to take the Thomson Dream. It still has hints that resemble a good old fashioned liner and with quality entertainment, drinks and food. There are a variety of dining choices including fine dining at the Grill and also a Magrodome over the pool for when there is cool weather during a cruise.

The last ship of the fleet, the Thomson Spirit, is a retro-like cruise that has been inspired by the ocean liners of the 50's and the 60's. It offers open seating for all 3 meals, plenty of open space with two pool decks and more choice of cabins than all of the other ships on Thomson cruises.

Thomson cruises offer a variety of fleets that you can choose from depending on your style, tastes and activities. They all offer a fine time and a relaxing seven day cruise that you can place in your memory books for years to come.
